💭 KYIV BIENNALE 2024
Kyiv Perennial, a continuation of the Kyiv Biennial 2023, marks the tenth anniversary of the Maidan Revolution and the russian war against Ukraine. Having started in February, the project unfolds in multiple cities including Berlin with panel discussions and exhibitions until June. A particularly intriguing panel discussion will take place on 16th of March, 5pm:
„Decolonizing Eastern Europe“ - the debate about coloniality in Eastern Europe is ongoing, especially facing the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Questions of the war as a neo-colonial project and colonial continuities following the russian empire and Soviet Union will keep on being discussed. In this panel you can experience highly skilled speakers debating this topic.
Panelists:
Epp Annus - a Ph.D. holder in Baltic literatures, specializes in Soviet (post)colonialism and phenomenology of Soviet life. Author and editor, she explores Soviet rule from a postcolonial lens and is affiliated with European research centers.
Franziska Davies - is a German historian of Eastern Europe who specializes in researching the modern history of Russia, Ukraine and Poland, and is fighting strongly against russian disinformation in the public discourse.
Darya Tsymbalyuk - a Mary Zirin Prize-winning Slavic Studies Ph.D., investigates the environmental impacts of russia's war on Ukraine. As an Early Career Fellow in London, she combines research with visual arts and filmmaking.
