Hello,
Did you know, that I really, really like Poland? Until August I will be based in the Motherland of Pierogi, in the amazing city of Warszawa.
Make sure to let me know if you are in town! Of course I will be back in Berlin from time to time for three very important things: a) Pierogi Making, b) Film Watching and c) Catching up <3

THANK YOU…
to everyone who joined kulturalnie&personalnie on 2nd of February! Patrycja and I are still excited about the great interested shown in the event and in the film BLUEBERRY DREAMS directed by Elene Mikaberidze. But mostly, we’re glad we were able to start a conversation on the current protests in Georgia - a country fighting for their free future for months on the streets of Tbilisi and beyond. 🇬🇪

It made me wonder: Would you come, if we’d offer something similar again?
Baltic Slavic Pop Up
I know you like food events, so here we go - Baltic Slavic Pop Up at U Bar with a menu that “blends classic flavors from Baltic and Slavic traditions, reimagined in new and creative ways”. Sounds promising and tasty!
📆 March 1st, 6PM until sold out
📍U Bar
💵 couldn’t find out the exact price of the food, sorry :(
European Month of Photography
EMOP, Germanys biggest photography festival is starting on March 1st, this year under the very current motto “what stands between us”, reflecting on the trend of political and social polarization.
How and where is CEE represented?
Ukraine at Institute Francais: THE TRANSGRESSIVE POWER OF GRIEF - A combination of poetry with the urgent documentation of reality, creating a narrative of war in resistance and resilience.
Czech Republic at KVOST: T-CLUB – JUST LIKE IN PARADISE - An exhibition documenting the legendary queer T-Club in Prague.
Lithuania, Ukraine, Germany at Brotfabrik: PHOTOGRAPHY NOIR. EXISTENCE. - black & white photography from different worlds - urban, industrial, and rural.
There is a new newsletter in town..
and I can imagine, that some of you might find it interesting!
Bettina, who writes Heaven and Earth Dispatches on Substack, started a second newsletter curating literary events in Berlin. Perfect for those who have a soft spot for writing, speaking of writing and reading! Here is an example of what to expect:
German-Polish Literature Forum UNRAST 2025 - “Verführtes Denken“ by Czesław Miłosz
Book Launch and Discussion. Perspectives on Russia’s War against Ukraine
Subscribe to Bettina’s newsletter to get a monthly round-up of what’s happening in Berlin’s literary scene!
Cafe Kyiv - Freedom must win
THE Ukraine event hosted by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Like a festival of all things Ukraine - with panels, films, Ukrainian brands, food, etc. At an iconic location - the Colosseum Cinema.
The full-scale war in Ukraine is still going on, even though media coverage has been low. Now is the time to keep our eyes on Ukraine, understand the implications of this war, not only for Ukraine but also for us. This is the perfect place to listen, to discuss, to learn, to connect.
Kira Rjabcew, Benedikt Putz and I are working on a detailed guide to Cafe Kyiv. Stay tuned!
📆 11th of March, 9AM - 10PM
📍Colosseum / Prenzlauer Berg
💵 free
🗣️ English, German & Ukrainian
n-ost kitchen talk goes Kino Krokodil
n-ost invites to a discussion and screening of the film “Eine Erklärung für alles” by Gábor Reisz. Every second Wednesday n-ost hosts their “kitchen talk”, where CEE journalists, experts and the public are invited to discuss journalism and its impact. Now they are trying something new: At the Kino Krokodil the next kitchen talk focuses on showing a moving portrait of a divided Hungarian society under the pressure of populism.
Register here!
📆 12th of March, 6:30 PM

JOE List is asking for our help
JOE-List is a service hosted by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteruopakunde, run on a volunteer basis. It’s a website gathering all helpful things for CEE-enthusiasts and professionals in Germany, such as Job Openings, Events, Call for Submissions, etc. And they need donations to survive! They also have a great TG channel, for fast delivery of new offerings.
I am so grateful for their work, which is why I donated right away, when I saw their call for help. They saved me tons of time and helped me find exciting opportunities as well as an audience for my events.
With 15€ you can prolong JOE-Lists life for one whole month! If you cannot donate, maybe share their call for donations with others? <3
